Tiana Major9 Is in Her NOVEMBER SCORPIO Era

"A soulful artist with a timeless feel, Tiana Major9 has long been a CLASH favourite. Interpolating historic R&B facets, she builds an atlas that moves from Millennial gloss through to breathy Quiet Storm feels and beyond"
—CLASH
When Tiana Major9 released her independent debut album November Scorpio (+1 Records) earlier this year, it felt like an introduction to an artist ready to tell her story entirely on her own terms. Now, with November Scorpio: Deluxe, released August 28, Tiana opens that story up even further. Rather than simply adding a few bonus songs to the end, she weaves four new tracks—“Heaven,” “MORE,” “Who?” and “alright!”—directly into the heart of the album, expanding its emotional arc and making the Deluxe edition feel like a fuller version of the record rather than an afterthought. The neo-soul warmth, jazz influences and gospel undertones of the original are still here, along with the love, desire and self-reflection that defined November Scorpio. Still, the new material adds another layer of vulnerability and confidence. There’s something especially satisfying about hearing an artist use a Deluxe edition to deepen an album rather than simply make it longer.
Those four new songs also fit remarkably naturally alongside some of the original album’s strongest moments. “Always,” featuring Yebba, remains a beautiful meeting of two distinctive voices, while “energy!” featuring trumpeter Keyon Harrold brings a playful, jazz-inflected confidence and “desire.” leans into attraction and emotional connection with an intimacy that never feels overplayed. The addition of “Heaven,” “MORE,” “Who?” and “alright!” gives those songs new company and offers a broader look at where Tiana is creatively and personally. Taken together, November Scorpio: Deluxe feels even more assured than the original—a soulful, deeply personal record from an artist who is increasingly comfortable letting vulnerability, independence and grown-up clarity coexist in the same space.
Born and raised in East London to Jamaican parents, Tiana Major9 grew up surrounded by jazz, gospel and praise and worship music before discovering the neo-soul sounds of artists including Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. Her collaborations with artists like Stormzy, Bryson Tiller, Smino and Unknown T T, as well as sharing stages with Victoria Monét, Jazmine Sullivan and Adele, showcase her versatility and growing influence in the industry. “Collide,” from the Queen & Slim soundtrack featuring Tiana Major9 and EarthGang, earned a GRAMMY® nomination and helped introduce Tiana’s voice to a much wider audience. Babyface’s 2022 GRAMMY®-nominated producer-driven showcase album, Girl’s Night Out, features Tiana Major9 along with other women of R&B, including Kehlani, Ari Lennox, Ella Mai, Coco Jones and Doechii. After taking time for reflection and self-discovery, Tiana has emerged with a renewed sense of confidence and purpose. With her unmistakable voice, deep musicality and willingness to evolve, Tiana Major9 continues to carve out a space that is distinctly her own—and it feels like there’s plenty more to come.
