“Her vocals are consistently stunning, layered with rich harmonies and tasteful arrangements that never overshadow the songs themselves.” —JubileeCast

Tori Kelly's sound has found her home with God Must Really Love Me. Released via Epic Records, the three-time GRAMMY® winner’s latest album brings together R&B, soul, acoustic pop and gospel while showing a different kind of confidence from one of music’s most gifted vocalists. Instead of treating every song as an opportunity for vocal fireworks, Kelly often pulls back and lets the writing lead. “Control” turns the everyday feeling of life getting away from you into a song about surrender, while “Hurts So Good” gives her room to dig into the more complicated side of emotion. The intimate and soulful, “Without You,” showcases Kelly’s R&B chops, while the title track opens the album on an especially personal note: a brief love letter to her son, Zayden, complete with the sound of his voice. Motherhood clearly changed Kelly’s perspective, but more importantly, it seems to have opened up a new way of writing that feels instinctive and grateful.

“This album is so special to me,” Tori shares. “After my son was born, I was hit with a flood of inspiration and most of the music was done in two weeks when my son was just two months old. I feel such gratitude and peace in my life right now, and I love that you can hear that in this music.” This sentiment is evident throughout this album. “Dive,” written while Kelly was seven months pregnant, embraces the exhilaration of taking a leap without knowing exactly where you’ll land, while the dreamy “Too Much” came together just days after her son was born. “Bliss,” written as a lullaby while Kelly held her son, gently leads with acoustic guitar, layered harmonies and an intimacy that suits the album beautifully. Much of God Must Really Love Me began with Kelly writing alone before bringing the songs to collaborators including Tommy King, Dan Farber, DIXSON, Nija Charles, Emily Warren and Ammo. Kelly’s remarkable voice is still very much the main event, but this time she seems just as interested in what can happen when she doesn’t have to prove what it can do.

Tori Kelly has spent more than a decade building a career around a voice that can move comfortably between pop, R&B, soul and gospel. A singer, songwriter, musician and three-time GRAMMY® winner, she first gained widespread attention with her independently released Handmade Songs by Tori Kelly before breaking through with her debut album, Unbreakable Smile. Since then, projects including Hiding Place, Inspired by True Events and TORI. have allowed her to explore different sides of her musicianship, while collaborations and performances have established her as one of her generation’s most respected vocalists. God Must Really Love Me finds Kelly at a different point in both her life and her artistry: less concerned with showing us everything she can do and more interested in making sure we feel what she has to say.
