Yuki Chiba, You Had Us At “ANNYEONGHASEYO"

“...the real magic is his ability to turn the simplest phrase into a crowd-ready chant. It’s an underrated skill in rap, and Yuki’s turned it into a science.” —LiFTED
Sometimes a song doesn’t need to overcomplicate things to get your attention. On “Annyeonghaseyo,” Japanese/Korean rapper Yuki Chiba teams with Korean producer Lil Moshpit for a cross-cultural collaboration built around one of the most universally useful words: hello. Over Lil Moshpit’s stripped-down, bouncing production, Yuki turns the familiar Korean greeting into an infectious refrain, weaving in playful references to Korean culture along the way. The track has the loose, spontaneous energy of something made to be shouted back in a club or at a festival—and listeners have clearly picked up on it, with more than 300,000 TikTok creates giving “Annyeonghaseyo” a life well beyond the recording itself.
What makes “Annyeonghaseyo” work is how much Yuki does with such a simple idea. LiFTED noted his knack for transforming a basic phrase into a crowd-ready chant, and that instinct is at the heart of the track. There’s humor, swagger and an undeniable sense of fun in the performance, but the Japan-Korea pairing also gives the song a broader cultural reach. The song became so huge in Korea that the Prime Minister used it as the soundtrack for a recap of his official state visit with the Japanese Prime Minister, building international relations through music! Yuki and Lil Moshpit aren’t trying to force a grand statement out of it; they’ve made something immediate, memorable and built for people to join in. One word, one hook, and suddenly everybody knows how to say hello.
Yuki Chiba has been moving at his own pace since reintroducing himself under his birth name in 2024 with “Team Tomodachi.” The Tokyo artist followed with “Mamushi,” his collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, and has since released the albums STAR, Okumanchoja and Eien, along with separated at birth, a collaborative project with Stillz. His growing international reach has also led to collaborations with artists including Murda Beatz, Feid and Big Sean, as well as headline performances outside Japan and an anthem created for Riot Games’ VALORANT. Beyond music, Yuki writes for television and print and oversees his clothing brand, Dogs. With “Annyeonghaseyo,” he continues to show how naturally his distinctly Japanese point of view can travel across languages, borders and cultures.
