GRAMMY® Nominee Baby Rose Gets to the Heart of the Heart With the Highly-Acclaimed YEARNALISM

“[Rose] has one of the most powerful voices in all of music. One that is so singular, so astoundingly recognizable every single time you hear it. Piercing the heart every time.”
—NPR
Baby Rose has a voice you recognize immediately—deep, expressive, and a throwback to an era of smoky rooms and clinking cocktails—and on YEARNALISM, she puts it in service of a deeply personal story. Released through Secretly Canadian and executive produced alongside longtime collaborator Biako, the 12-track album explores desire, heartbreak, and the process of figuring out who you’re becoming. Soul, gospel, jazz, rock, and R&B all inform its sound, with influences that reach back to the Muscle Shoals era while making room for Rose’s own perspective. There’s a clear connection between the album’s musical range and its emotional scope: this is a songwriter giving herself space to examine love, loss, and growth from more than one angle.
“Friends Again,” featuring Leon Thomas, brings the album’s central themes into focus, exploring the complicated space between friendship and romantic attachment. Their reunion follows Rose’s contribution to Thomas’ MUTT, and the collaboration feels especially fitting within a project built around longing and connection. NPR named it as one of the Year’s Best Songs (So Far). “But, Nvm,” “Let Me Go,” and “Better” are further spotlight selections, that show Baby Rose’s depth and vocal prowess, alongside “Sunday,” “All My Love,” and “Dressed In Metal.” Together, these songs offer an inviting starting point for an album Rose describes as “documenting desire in all its forms.” That idea gives YEARNALISM its through line, connecting the desire for another person with the equally personal work of understanding yourself. Even before its release, YEARNALISM has received large critical acclaim lauded by NPR, The New York Times, Essence, Vibe, BET, Billboard, COLORS, Hypebeast, Okayplayer, Rolling Stone en Español, HOLA!, MTV Latin America and more. YAMS Magazine proclaimed the album is “one of the albums of the year.”
Born Jasmine Rose Wilson, Baby Rose introduced her sound with 2019’s To Myself, earning early support from artists including SZA, J. Cole, James Blake, and Kehlani. Her career has since included an NPR Tiny Desk performance, a GRAMMY nomination for her contribution to Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III, and collaborations with Smino and Georgia Anne Muldrow on 2023’s Through and Through. She continued expanding her musical vocabulary with the BADBADNOTGOOD collaboration Slow Burn in 2024, followed by an appearance in Celine Song’s Materialists. With YEARNALISM, Rose brings that experience into a project that places her songwriting, production, and unmistakable voice at the center.
