“I’ve always had a deep love and appreciation for Country Music and at its core, a pure Country ballad is the blues. Straight From The Heart allowed me to pay tribute to the incredible Country singers and writers that I admire, and at the same time, honor who I am in my soul. Working alongside artists like Vince Gill, Keb' Mo', Michael McDonald and
Shawn Colvin on this album was truly magical.”
—Bill Medley
Bill Medley, one of the most iconic voices in popular music, returns with Straight From The Heart (Curb Records), his first album in over a decade. Produced by Fred Mollin, the 12-track collection highlights Medley’s unmistakable baritone as he reimagines some of Country music’s most beloved ballads. Recorded live in Nashville with a stellar lineup of legendary studio players, the album features collaborations with Vince Gill, Michael McDonald, Keb’ Mo’, and Shawn Colvin—bringing new depth and resonance to timeless classics.
The album moves seamlessly through songs of heartbreak, love, and reflection, each carrying a personal connection to Medley’s life. From the soulful duet with Michael McDonald on “Cryin’ Time,” to a tender take on “The Dance,” and the aching beauty of “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” with Shawn Colvin, the project embodies Medley’s lifelong affinity for Country music’s storytelling tradition. Other highlights include “He Stopped Loving Her Today,” a moving tribute to enduring love, and “Sweet Music Man,” honoring his longtime friend Kenny Rogers. Closing with “Let It Be Me,” Medley offers a gentle reminder of music’s timeless ability to express the deepest emotions.
A Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and GRAMMY® Award-winning artist, Bill Medley first captured the world as one-half of The Righteous Brothers, the duo behind timeless hits like “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” “Unchained Melody,” and “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” His career has long intertwined with Nashville and the Country community, from opening for Loretta Lynn and touring with Alabama to sharing stages with legends such as Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, and Kris Kristofferson. In February 2025—during the Opry’s historic 100th year—Medley marked another career milestone with his Grand Ole Opry debut. With Straight From The Heart, he bridges his soulful roots and his deep love of Country, reaffirming his place as one of music’s most distinctive voices.
